I think that your belief that they go there to worship an owl idol is funny.
They go there because that's where the rich and powerful go to meet in a relaxed and private atmosphere.
They don't pretend to make sacrifices, either. They have a ceremony, on the opening weekend of the camp where they burn "Care" in effigy, as in, "leaving the cares of the world behind them" in camp.
The conspiracy nuttery going on about what happens there is silly and droll and amusing, but hardly the stuff that truth is made of.
