It was also a big deal a while back when she announced she was supporting him on her show and had that big campaign party for him. It had absolutely NO effect in the polls for him, none, zip, zero. I suspect that Iowans, known for being pragmatic and down to earth in their voting, are not going to change their minds about their vote because a celebrity, even one as huge as Oprah, tells them they should. Especially when that celebrity has no political background at all. If her support didn't make a difference nationwide, it's doubtful that it has a better chance of working in Iowa. But stranger things have happened. I just agree with the political pundits who are saying this could backfire against him. If it were anywhere but Iowa or New Hampshire it might work to a degree, but I'll be shocked to see such an obvious ploy work in either of those two states where people are hard bitten about their vote.
EDIT:
Mele:
She didn't switch her support from Hillary to Obama, she never supported Hillary.

Oprah doesn't have that much power.
She may love Obama but if a woman is so shallow as to vote for Hillary, just because she's a woman, I doubt that Oprah's opinion on Obama will make any difference.

Honestly I vote based on my beliefs. But unfortunately Oprah says this is a great book, and go figure women everywhere rush to stores to buy them. She is a icon and a very intelligent woman who has strong beliefs which intimidate others. Those with low self esteem, who want to sound smarter then they think they are will listen to her, say her reasonings and support it. Unfortunately it doesn't stop with her. People all over don't pay attention or care to keep up with politics, and some just do not understand it. So they turn their eyes to those icons and follow their lead.

Oprah is a celebrity. So is Obama. That's his problem. He's got money, rock star status and big crowds. With Oprah, he's only getting more of what he already doesn't need. What we need is for him to show he's got the experience and political common sense to win against the Republicans. Whether you like Hillary or not, she just keeps coming back no matter how many times you attack her. Obama doesn't take the punches as well as she does. I'm afraid the Republicans will have him for lunch if he gets the nomination. I'm am still waiting for him to prove me wrong. I'd love to vote for him, but so far I'm not convinced he can win.

No. It will be great to see her, but only a very few will change their vote because Oprah told them too.

Yes I think she has a tremendous influence on female voters. I don't think she should campaign for Obama. I'm not comfortable with any celebrities' using their stardom as a platform for endorsing their political choices.

Oprah will pull votes from Senator Clinton. President Clinton will now kick in to balance the situation, I believe Hillary will pull it out.
Senator Clinton can beat the Republicans--Senator Obama would not stand a chance, Democrats want this win.

I'd say so.
At least as major as Chuck Norris. I think it could seriously hurt Clinton the worst though.
Now both Clinton and Obama, are vieing for the stupid women votes.
(Votes by women who would vote based on the candidate being a woman or based on the candidate being endorsed by their favorite star).
Note I do not think that women in general are stupid. But anyone would be dumb to vote based on sex, or endorsements.
