What is the point of telemarketers, credit card companys even calling? I live in the states, english is all i know...Most all these people dont even speak enough english for me to understand....Is it just me? How do they expect as a company to prosper buy hiring people who speak very little/ not good english?

I love it when they call. After the initial politics and I find out it's a telemarketer I switch from my usual perfect North American accented English to an indistinguishable "Me no speak Engrish, me creaning rady", and then I laugh and hang up. Once the same telemarketer phoned back eight times and I did it every time, they were so angry they could hardly talk after a while. Oh God did I laugh that day!

The point of them calling is that for every 99 people that hang up on them there's 1 sucker that will buy their product. That one person generates enough revenue to pay for the other 99 calls and more. It's a positive cost/benefit analysis.

Its called outsourcing. Eventually, the results will be either the same or worse than hiring telemarketers in the states.

I agree with you there, not to mention technical support for any item. Sometimes I just want to say give me someone who speaks English.

Just kindly tell them that you are not interested. They're just trying to do their jobs. You can ask them how to say that in their language too!! =)
