Ethernet is the physical connection Standard. eq. the NIC the
cable and the communication protocals over the CAT x
cabling.

Ethernet is a medium: could also be telephone(Dial-up), satallite, Cablemodem, DSL. ex..

An Intranet is a private network within an organizations, size
doesn't matter the organization could be world wide, one
building, or two computers. To be an intranet the network
need to have its own domain and Domain-Name servers.
And Intranet can host its own websites. Key is that Intranet
refers to a network scope and not cabling or physical
limitation. An Intranet could comprise of a LAN or WAN.

The Internet, as there is only one, Is the global network that
uses TCP/IP protocals to connect computers and networks.
The Internet is comprised of WAN's, LAN's, and Personal
computers. Any computer connected to the Internet is part
of the Internet ether active or pasive. Again Internet is a
public networking scope and doesn't refer to cabling or
network size.

A LAN is a Local area network. A network falls into a LAN
based on geographical size, and is independant of the
Internet or an Intranet. A LAN is typicaly defined as a
network that is physically connected within the same
geographical location.

A WAN is a wide area network. A WAN network is a LAN
that does not reside entirely within the same geographical
location. So even a Point to Point network between two
computers one on the east coast and one on the west coast
would be on a WAN not a LAN. If those same two
computers were even using the same Point to Point
connection but they where located in the same room they
would then be classified as a LAN.

LAN and WAN describe Geographical Size of a network.
Internet and Intranet describe Privacy of a network.

The WWW is the HTTP protocals your web browser uses to view website and it uses the Internet to transfer/connect to the websites.

Ethernet is a type of internet connectivity, intranet is an internal organizations website, used only within the organization, and not available to those outside the company on the World Wide Web or WWW, unless the Network Administrator gives an employee or customer the URL and password to access that internal website, and the internet is the entire collection of public websites which you can serf to with a web browser.

Ethernet is a "form" of connection.

Intranet is an internal private website.

Internet is the external collection of hundreds of thousands of public websites all connected together via routers, servers, etc.

The WWW IS the Internet. It is the full collection of public websites which are connected via connection types, using IP address translated into recognizable and easily remembered names, such as HowStuffWorks.com or

http://www.howstuffworks.com

The http is a platform; https is a secure platform; the www is the beginning prefix such as an area code, the howstuffworks is the website name, or domain, such as a house address, and actually is an IP address; and .com is the type of website it is, such a commercial, .org for organization usualy not for profit, .edu for education, .gov for governent.

Another type of "connection" is electrical lines, or HPL, Home Power LIne. It is not the same as ethernet. To connect an ethernet connection and a powerline connection you must bridge the two. Just to show a different type of connection. Ethernet is NOT just a type of adapter, the adapter actually conforms to the ethernet standard, not the other way around.

The internet comprises the world wide web (www.) and everything else within it. The world wide web is NOT the internet. Ethernets and Intranets are both LAN networks (Local area networks), which mean that they are computers connected within a single building or two+ buildings, within a short distance. I can't distinguish between ethernet and intranet though. Nonetheless, they are both set up for the sharing of files, peripherals and resources such as a laser printer or Antivirus software.
