Happens all the time and I just laugh and thank God they are feeling good enough to even try it. They are so much fun and what else can you do but laugh. Love those old guys. Believe me they can surprise you everyday.

It was more normal back in their days when they were young. Some people never change. He may be senile as well or have Alzheimer's. The point is this is not a question for all old people, they are just like anyone else. They have some who are inappropriate others who are not. Although, as I previously stated they did come from an era where it was more acceptable than that of today. Still it has always been thought to be rude. p.s. I was a counselor for the Mentally Retarded. We occasionally took the group out for dinners. One of the men slapped the waitress on the butt and said" hey honey I want some more ice cream". It is not just the elderly, its mostly the men though.

No, it's very out of line for anyone of any age, during the good old days, or today, to smack your butt. A lot of nursing home patients are senile, have dementia or alzheimers, and that takes away the filters they used to have that would have prevented them from doing certain behaviors that they never would have done before. Then again, maybe he's just a dirty old man and always has been. Either way, I think you should tell him that's not acceptable behavior, and try to avoid getting too close to him. Watch him though, around the women residents, and make sure he is not abusing them. My mother went through a very rough time with a man in the nursing home, and it was all because he thought he could do whatever the heck he wanted to. Do not expect the other patients to have to put up with bad behavior just because he's just "getting his kicks." He should find another way to get them.

Men of his generation did things like that. Canada had a Prime Minister that slapped one of the female MP's on the butt and there was holy hell to pay for it.
Today not acceptable in our PC world today , however if a female slaps a guy on the *** they just seem to like it - go figure - course they dont encounter sexual harassment as much as women have and do.
One always has to assess the situation as to whether it will lead to further unwanted contact and then take the appropriate action. My response is always "watch it buddy people have landed in jail for that" and they usually get the message. It stopped a co worker of mine from doing it again.

I think that's pretty normal - by the time you are old enough to have to live in a nursing home I think people have earned the right to engage in a bit of naughty behaviour.

Boys will be boys, geezers will be geezers, and bless his little heart! Next time give the old gent a wide berth, but don't be suprised it it happens again. And from other duffers. I have a friend who claims that all males die "standing up." Think about it.

THERE WAS SILENCE ALL ABOUT, THE OLD MAN LOOKED UP AT HER AND SAID.

I wouldn't approve of it. I do like the idea of multiple enemas for him. My FIL is what I would call a "dirty old man". I have seen him pinch the behinds of waitresses in a restaurant - he was even with his wife. One day they were visiting us in our home and he had a few too many drinks and stuck a $20.00 bill down the front of my blouse. His wife was humiliated and she gave him what for. I kept the $20.00.. payment for my humiliation.

Ah, the good old days, when you could tell a woman she was good looking in no uncertain terms and not get sued for it... Those days will die with that fellow's generation.

He was just in a playful mood. Don't take it personally. Next time give yourself plenty of room around him and wag your finger at him with a smile.
