"To all the racists that posted, what crime has Sean Taylor been convicted of to be called a "thug"?"

Here is what he has been "convicted" of -
Taylor's short NFL career, however, was overshadowed somewhat by controversy. He fired two of his agents, walked out of a mandatory NFL rookie symposium for which he was fined, and was accused of spitting on Cincinnati Bengals player, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who later called Taylor "a punk," during a 2004 game at FedEx Field.
Taylor had ups and downs during a January 7, 2006 wild card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he scored a touchdown that proved to be the Redskins' margin of victory, he was ejected after spitting at running back Michael Pittman. He was subsequently fined $17,000, the amount of his game check.
On October 27, 2004, Taylor was arrested at 2:45am for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol following a birthday party for former Redskins' receiver Rod Gardner.
* On June 3, 2005, Taylor was named publicly as a "person of interest" by Miami-Dade County police in regard to a Miami assault case involving firearms, and was being sought for questioning. "We need to speak to him, we don't know if he's a victim, witness or suspect," Miami-Dade police spokesman Mary Walters said. Taylor allegedly was present at, and possibly involved in, an incident on June 1, 2005 in Miami, in which bullets allegedly were fired into a stolen vehicle. [citation needed]

* On June 5, 2005, ESPN and The Miami Herald both reported that Taylor, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered to Miami-Dade police at approximately 10pm ET on June 4 at Miami's Cutler Ridge district police station, where he was transported to Miami's Turner Guilford Knight correctional facility. He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, a felony, and misdemeanor battery.[citation needed]

* On June 5, Miami-Dade police issued a statement indicating that Taylor had been arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm (a felony) and battery (a misdemeanor), for allegedly pointing a gun at a person over a dispute over two ATVs that Taylor claimed were stolen.[citation needed] Taylor then allegedly left the scene, but returned shortly and punched one person.[citation needed]

* The Associated Press reported on June 5 that Taylor was held in detention at Miami's Turner Gilford Knight correctional facility and released the evening of June 4 after posting bond of $16,500. The Miami-Dade County Clerk's Office announced that Taylor would soon be officially arraigned on the charges.[citation needed]

* The Washington Post reported on March 3, 2006 that Taylor's trial has been postponed until April 10, 2006. Days before that date, the trial was moved back once more, this time by a week, because of conflicts with Passover and Easter celebrations.

I guess all this??

Obviously you are missing the important thing about the amount and quality of Sean Taylor responses today. Its not about being someones favorite player, not today. Its about showing respect. Clinton Portis said it best when he stated that there are more important things than football. This guy was a person just like eveyone else. He had problems, yes, but he also had a family. People can relate to that and reflect on this tragity. That is why all the talk about Sean Taylor. And no, he wasn't my favorite player and didn't need to be to earn my respect and condolences.

Sean taylor has been my favorite player since he was in college. He was voted by NFL players the hardest hitter in the NFL. Sean taylor made mistakes at his young age but everyone makes mistakes, just not everyones are the same. He is not a thug. and why does everyone care less about him being murdered for no reason? Micheal Vick was involved in killing dogs and everyone went nuts about how mean that is and cruel to do that to dogs. A human life is way more important than a dogs. im not saying what vick did was right im just saying that no matter who you are you should feel for him and his family. i bet youd be totally pissed if your sibling or relative had a crook come into your house andd shoot them dead. gimme a break R.I.P SEAN TAYLOR

I wouldn't say that "no one" had talked about him before. He had a ton of hype coming out of college, and he was in the pro bowl last year (as an alternate, but still). I know 3 Redskins fans, and him and Cooley are/were their favorite players.

Personally, I always thought he was a great player, and the only thing that I really hold against him are the spitting allegations. The late hit/dirty hit fines come with being a hardhitting safety. He was acquitted of every charge made on him, and I don't think he was as bad of a guy as people made/are making him out to be. He just went to Miami, which makes everyone go nuts when he gets in trouble.

In any case, I think the whole thing would be better if we just let him RIP, and we dealt with the information as it becomes available to us.

Man seriously some people have no heart. The man is dead, you all should at least show some remorse, instead of bashing him for his past. Taylor made some mistakes just like most other pro athletes have made, but he was changing. And in that respect Im sadden to see a great talent, but also a good person leave us. He will be missed.

RIP Sean Taylor

No, Sean was not my favorite player. It's truly sad to consider that our athletes have stopped being statesmen and role models for their respective sports (few exceptions with Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods as example). That said, I would look to athletes like Marlon Briscoe who had it all, lost it all, and made a very humanitarian comeback. For years, he has helped troubled children in the Los Angeles area. Sean Taylor on the other hand was not given that chance. I believe that his selfishness, and questionable ethics would still be huge stumbling blocks had he lived. I have provided links to Marlon's testament as a role model. Compare these articles to the dissertation that Dr. J penned above.

He's in my top three. I interned for the Redskins two years ago and actually had conversations with him. He was a good guy and he didn't deserve to be shot down like an animal in his own home. He may not deserve the "prayers and well wishes" of people who didn't know who he was until this happened, but he also doesn't deserve the judgment and disrespect that he's getting from people who never laid eyes on him in real life. Do you people even know what a "thug lifestyle" is or are you basing that on a Jay-Z video? When some idiot wht kid goes crazy and shoots up his school because people made fun of him, you don't say, "well, what do you expect? The kid was freak and if he didn't want to get made fun of he should have bought some new clothes and left Dungeons and Dragons alone." No, you blame it on society and rap music and write new laws to "protect us." You're such hypocrites.

He's not my favorite player. I don't particularly like any of the Redskins. I know he had some talent, but that's about all I know of Taylor. It's too bad he died....but I feel the same about him as I did before.

I am sad that he died but he wasnt my favorite player. I respected him and thought he was one of the best. And I do think he deserves some respect, especially now that he has passed. Granted he has had his legal troubles and that little incident with Michael Pittman was uncalled for but the man is dead let him rest in peace. He can no longer defend himself and only a coward would drag his name through the mud, like some of these folks are doing here on yahoo.

Michael Vick was my favorite player for a long time. I've heard this guy's name but I don't think he would ever rise to the level of my favorite player. I feel bad for his family.
