Top 5 goalies guide their teams to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
I can name two goalies in the metropolitan New York area (Lundqvist and Brodeur), and at least 4 goalies outside the metropolitan New York area (Luongo, Kiprusoff, Giguere, Osgood) who are better. I'd venture to also say that Hasek, Gerber, Emery, and Ward are better.....not to forget about Turco in Dallas.
So, I no longer have DiPietro in the top 10

I love D.P., but he's not a top five goalie so far this season. Top 10-12 at this time. But I would take him, right now, over Hasek (currently 39th in sv%; sad to see the skills decline so suddenly, looks lost... ) or Emery. But I agree that DiPietro has kept the Islanders in many games this year. Of course he gets hammered once in a while, but he usually comes back with a strong game the next time out, like he did when he shut out TB after getting slammed by Carolina the game before(6 goals in 28 minutes).

Just because he is key for the Islanders who just cant seem to score, doesnt make him top 5 in the league.
I dont even know if I would put him in the top 10! I have seen DP play some horrible games.

I'm with you here. Look at the Isles roster, they don't have much. Quality goaltending and a good coach can still make a mediocre team competitive

he is the top netminder as far as a contract goes, but he was smart in sticking around the isles hoping that they could build a great team in front of him.

Here is my top 3.
1.Martin Broduer-Has and will break almost every record set .
2.Hendrick Lundquivst-Keeping the Rangers over 500. too.
3.Roberto Luongo-Helping his team dominate everyone is the West.
Dipietro is in the top ten but not in the top 5.

No, he is still quite a bit away from being a top 5 goalie. Top ten, maybe, but not top five.
