Selfish is a sign of immaturity. Babies and children are very selfish, but as they grow, they should gradually learn to take into consideration the world around them. Selfish adults -- for whatever reason -- never developed the capacity to consider others.
I think a lot of selfish people have just been catered to their whole lives and have never been forced to think about the needs of others. Parents should start teaching consideration at an early age.

everyone is selfish to a point.
a lot of very selfish people may be that way becuase when they were growing up no one helped them out. So now that they are older and successfull they dont beleive anyone else deserves anything from them, and that is how someone could be selfish

This is the culture of this century: Think of yourself only, take care of your own interests (it doesn't matter what you have to do in order to achieve things), do everything to yourself only ... Then the more people get used to their self love and feelings it becomes very easy to get rid of the other people around and not to consider them at all... It works like this: why should I care about the others if I am enough, great and wonderful?? Why should I Care! But times passes, things change! the young people get old, daughters become mothers... sons become fathers... responsability comes, there's no way out... And the harvest begins!!!

I think selfish people are........"selfish." ( ^ _ ^ ) How did they get this way? Beats me. I think we're all selfish in a way. I have yet to actually meet a person who isn't or wasn't selfish in some way, shape or form.

Too worried about themselves to care what others think or feel...
