I used Vehicle Wiring Products who have a website. Label every terminal with those little swing price tickets, slit open the outer sleeve and cut the various colours and grades of wire to length. Then pass them through the new sleeve and attach terminals. It is not hard, just a matter of being methodical. I was surprised how well it went. You can get ready made ones for some popular makes (mine was obscure) but they are not cheap and some are not perfect I hear. Good luck!

If you have your old harness (loom), take a piece of plywood and stretch it out on it like a road map or tree branch. Drive nails along both sides the main trunk as well as the branches. Mark or drive nails at the ends of the wires as well. Buy new wire, lay it between the nails and to the end and when they're all in place, tape electrical tape and start taping it together in a spiral fashion. The better tape stretches more and is the best kind to use.

You can get the wire from an auto electrical spscialist. You need to ensure that each wire is suitable for the current it will have to carry (headlight(s) in particular, so some wires will need to be heavier than others. As long as you understand that concept you should be OK.

If you can't find an auto electrical specialist, there may be a marine chandlery (Birmingham being on the canal system).
