LOL! My kids do this all the time. Ok...I admit that I do it too. Why? Because we are too damn lazy to get off our own butts to make a grocery run.

For the same reason they stand there with the door open for 20 minutes, waiting for something to jump out at them. I think its funny but I do the same thing. I think it's because the first time I look I'm hungry, but not starving.. When I return to the fridge I'm more hungry than I was the first time so I think that something that wasnt appealing the first time around will become more appealing as I get more hungry

Common phenomenon amongst guys. ( o _ 0 ) There could be two slices of cheese, some curdled milk and some moldy bread in the frig and we'd probably still keep looking inside. It's like we're saying "Hmmm, two slices of cheese or the curdled milk with the moldy bread. This is so difficult! So many choices!"

Personally, it's because I used to live on the Star ship Enterprise and I keep mistaking the fridge for a replicator.

Because necessity is the mother of invention. If you're that desperate for food, you WILL think of something to whip up from the ingredients in the fridge.
