I am 35 weeks pregnant and am having this weird tingling sensation around my cervix. It's not painful by any means. I think I've been losing some of my mucus plug yesterday and today, the discharge is really stringy. I was just wondering if this tingling sensation could be effacement or dilation.

Most likely you won't know you are dilating or effacing. It quite often happens very gradually.

The tingling could be anything - pressure on your pelvic floor or the baby's head pushing down.

All of this, and losing the mucus plug, are indicators your body is getting ready for labor, but it is probably still weeks away.

Congrats!

Could be, but most women are unaware of early effacement and dilation because it happens so gradually. What you are feeling is most likely related to the increasing pressure placed upon the cervix by the growing baby.

Losing your mucous plug isn't necessarily an indicator of dilation and effacement - it could be just that the cervix is softening. Or all three could be happening. There is no way to predict. For 35 weeks though, it's very normal.

You won't feel dialation or efacement... It's a normal feeling what you're experiencing and usually just means there's added pressure to your cervix most likely from the baby. I had the same sensation with mine and thought it meant I was dialating too but nope! Didn't dialate until the day before he was born which was 2 weeks after I had those twinges down there :) good luck!
