If you're no longer allowed to be here, wouldn't they WANT you to leave? Haha, that doesn't make any sense at all!
I also posted this in Law and Ethics.... I just want a wider audience so I can get some insight into this curious, but very messed up law...

Wait, did that happen to you? This country becomes more and more insane every day. Best answer I could give would be layers and layers of bureaucracy. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. It's the same reason we can send humanitarian relief to countries we're bombing.

This is typical of the way the legal system works in the US.
There are a couple reasons that it's like this:
Primarily, with a bazillion conflicting laws and policies it becomes possible to criminalize nearly all of the population, thereby insuring that there is ALWAYS a reason to arrest and harass someone.
Another reason that things are like this is that most of the legislators (law writers) are lawyers...simple conflict of interest. We have lots of lawyers; we have lots of laws. The lawyers want to make a living, and fortunately for them the legal system in this country practically guarantees that everyone will require the services of a lawyer at some point in time.

Just another example of the chaos that occurs in the system with the removal of certain fundamental amendments! To ignore history, is to be condemned to repeat it! Our forefathers knew what they were doing when they established the Constitution of these United States! They spoke & wrote with wisdom & experience!!! Todays politicians beleive that the ideals of the constitution are out dated & non relevent to the problems of today! They couldn't be more wrong! What they are really forgetting is the trouble that occurs when we fail to uphold these fundamental rights for the people & think to change things for the better! I can only pray that our beloved country can survive the mistakes that are being made today!!!

They're too busy making up reasons why they can't respond to emergencies or enforce Immigration Laws.
And they can't even do that with any real creativity or authority. They just whine about Liberals and the ACLU, while refusing to prosecute the employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.
