At my 9 week appointment, the doctor said the baby was huge. Much bigger than a 9 week old fetus should be. We thought I was farther along, so at my next appointment (I was 13 w 6 d) we measured the baby, and it measured at exactly 14 weeks and the doctor said that now it looked about the right size. So, my guess is that it grew really fast at first and then slowed down so it is right where it is supposed to be now. Good luck!

At 20 weeks my son was 75% bigger than what he was suppose to be. They base how far along you are on general development stages on the baby. Just because he was bigger didnt mean he was ready. They measured his spine and head looked at the heart and what not the determine how far along you are. My son was induced early and weighed 9lbs 7oz. He still had a hard time with his sugar levels. My nephew was the same way he was born almost a month early at 9lbs 8oz and had respiratory problems and other premature issues. No we did not have gestational diabetes. Big babies just run in our family. That is why they took them early we are short petite girls. Point is a big baby doesnt necessarily mean twins or that you are further along. Your ob can assure any concerns you have. Best of Luck!

How ridiculous to do an ultrasound and not let you see. What a waste of resources. I feel that they would have almost been obliged to mention it if it were twins as it is not common. You need to find out, to have as much time as possible to prepare. Having twins is different from having a singleton.
Do twins run in your family? If there are twins your female line, ie from your Mothers' side of the family, twins can occur. If there are twins in the fathers' side, it is irrelevant (sorry to the Daddy!) Congratulations anyway and the very best of luck!

At 7 weeks you should be the size of a grain of rice.Grapefruit size would be more like late 20 weeks. I would get in for an ultrasound. If you are having twins and ultrasound may not show it at this point as the egg may not have separated yet. They may be feeling fibroids.
Good luck with your baby.

Yeah, that is big! At 7 weeks your uterus should be somewhere between the size of a plum and the size of a tennis ball.
It could be twins, or you are further along, or maybe something like fibroid tumors. Maybe you have triplets!! LOL
I sure would love to know what you find out at your next doctor's appointment! (Yeah, I know your thinking YOU!! - **I** want to know!! lol)
Hang in there! You'll know soon!

Your baby(s) arent the size of a grapefruit, your uterus is. Even at 9 weeks the baby is the size of a golf ball.
Some women just have high hormones, but without an ultrasound you dont know. its possible that you are 8-9 weeks, or that you are 7 weeks and have high hormones. Or it may be twins.
Without an ultrasound you wont know.

Hi there,
Since the real causes of uterine fibroids are complex, it goes to follow that their treatment should also be multidimensional. A wide variety of treatments, ranging from simple medicinal drugs to complex surgeries, are available for addressing uterine fibroid symptoms. However, if you are looking for a safe and natural form of remedy, it is best to take a holistic approach to your condition.
