i put in a disk into the drive and it started to make loud funny noises,then it stoped and i opened the drive and the CD was broken in 3 peices!!!

wtf pc why would you crack a disk in two!

sounds like you had a defective disk. or you pulled a Mythbusters on your CD crive.

You did not have the CD aligned in the disk tray, so when the drawer closed, (it is motor driven) it pinched the disk and broke it. You now need a new disk. You did make a backup copy of it, right?

Your the dense one, not the computer. Your put in the disk wrong. Make sure its aligned in the tray right next time.

Disk was bad or the drive had an error and spun the disk to fasst

Probably the damage was caused by someone between the chair and the disk drive.

You probably inserted the disk but didn't adjust it properly.

Even my disc was also broken some years ago...That may be due to manufaturing defect of the CD...
