Protect our God Given Rights
Basically here is my Philosophy on Government:
God-or to be PC, External Supernatural Power- grants Man Certain Unalienable Rights.
Man Grants Government certain, non-permanent rights.
Man cannot grant that which he does not have.
The Constitution is our contract with the government.
The Constitution defines and spells out in exact detail what our government (the people we allow to run the government) can do and exactly what they can not.
It defines exactly what Congress can do, exactly what the President can do, exactly what the courts can do, and exactly what they cannot do. It also lists 18, yes only 18, things for which, we the people can be taxed.
The Bill of Rights, the first 10 Amendments is a limit on the Government: It tells the government, really, it is re-emphasizing what the original Constitution said itself, what the government cannot do. Basically: "If we did not specifically grant you a right (In the Constitution), then you do not have it, but we the People still do."
Most basically, the government should be an impartial referee between you and I. If my intepretation of my inalienable rights trample on your intepretation of your inalienable rights, the government can legitimately become involved and solve said conflict. If that doesn't occur, the government should not interfere with us, except to protect us from criminals, foriegn and domestic.

Provide for defense, be transparent and compassionate about how it taxes and spends, practice fair and balanced governing as laid out in the Constitution, and be progressive with regards to the future of the country and the planet as a whole.

there are countless poor children in america. their parents
may skip both breakfast and lunch so their children can eat.
countless americans need health care, but cannot afford health insurance and are just above the limit of medicaid
so they fall between the cracks and get no health care at
all. do something to help americas poor and develope a
health care system that covers all americans.
thats better than spending billions of dollars on wars we
will never win.

Only what is explicity spelled out in the Constitution (national defense, etc.)
The rest is superfluous

As little as possible. There's no govt. program or department or even employee that/who would not be improved by its total elimination.
