Engineering schools like MIT, CalTech and even public colleges have a pretty consistent guy:gal ratio of 2:1, while colleges of arts and humanities are inundated by women. Why do women avoid taking cerebrally challenging subjects? Do they find them too difficult?

I don't understand the responses. Are women just not interested in things that challenge them, or are they turned off because those subjects are too hard for them? I don't understand.
