LSU lost to 2 unranked teams! Still they are ranked #7! Still they are playing for the SEC title? I don't understand. Can someone please explain this ranking system, please!

This is exactly why the polls do NOT work! Especially the pre-season polls! We shouldn't rank any team until after the 2nd week. LSU isn't a bad team, but they aren't one of the top 4 teams in the country. Yes both Kentucky and Arkansas were ranked at one time during the year, but it takes a while for a team's true colors come out!

LSU is probably the Best 2 loss team.. and 6 would be about right... ahead of them in order at this point IMHO
1.Hawaii
2.Mizzou
3. WVU
4. OSU
5. Kansas

Those are the undefeated and 1 loss teams.
JUst my opinion

gotball- SEC is not "unquestionably the best",,,, they play similar ooc opponents with similar results as the Big 10...
Big 10 has 10 of 11 bowl eligble compared to 11 of 12 for SEC... 9 big 10 will probably go, and 9 SEC (the 6-6 probably wont get a bid.) So they have not shown me or a lot of people that they are unquestionably the best

LSU is playing for the SEC title because they have a better record in the SEC west. They are number 7 because they were ranked 1 & 2 all year. They got beat by a ranked team, Kentuck was ranked at the time, so they didn't drop that far in the poles. I'm not a LSU fan, I don't like them, but its the way it is.

LSU plays in the SEC, unquestionably the toughest conference in the nation. Their two losses were to unranked teams, but GOOD teams! The only reason that UK and Arkansas were unranked was because of losses to in conference teams! Examine almost any SEC teams schedule and you will find that 90% of losses come from in conference rivals. Therefore knocking many good teams out of the ranks. In a hostile SEC, it is nearly impossible to run the table playing 8 in conference games a year. Im not saying that other conferences dont have tough teams, im just saying even mediocre SEC teams could run the table in another conference.

No one played and beat more ranked teams this year. They are up there with other good 2-loss teams. The two losses were to fairly good teams and both in 3OT. Kentucky was ranked when they beat LSU. LSU did win over 5 ranked teams this year, including VaTech, Florida and Auburn. So. Carolina and Alabama were also ranked when LSU beat them. Their overall schedule is one of the more difficult ones.

Now, whether or not you like them is a different issue. I don't think they rank teams on who likes them or not.

they lost to 2 good unranked teams in Triple overtime, thats one reason. It's not like they got blown out. each loss depended on 1 play.

I agree though, they 7 ranking is a bit high, but nobody can argue that they are not a great football team.

An even better question is WHY is Hawaii still not in the top 10? A weaker conference and schedule, but still UNDEFEATED is UNDEFEATED!! And Boise State is no easy team to beat and Hawaii did beat them last Friday. I say "CHARGE ON WARRIORS".
