So ladies, which do you prefer (or have had better luck with) and why? I used an OPK this month and it was fairly simple but I can see it getting pricey. I bought 3 7-day kits before I finally ovulated. Those of you that chart......it is easy to miss your temp. increase?

Has anyone tried the saliva ovulation test?

Thanks in advance and Baby Dust to all!!!

I did both, ovulation tests and BBT charting. The charting only tells you after you've ovulated, and by then it's too late. The ovulation tests give you about 24 hours notice, although I tried before I got a positive, since sperm can live for 5 days. Then I was able to confirm with BBT that I actually ovulated and when 13 days past ovulation my temps were still high, I knew I had cocneived. (My luteal phase is only 12 days)

*The temp increase is pretty obvious, it goes up and stay up.

Well these two things work differently. OPK's give you a heads up to when you will be ovulating and BBT confirms that you have ovulated after the fact. If you know what day you got your positive opk then start using them about 3-4 days before that next cycle (if your cycles are fairly regular). You may want to do both methods. That way you can plan on when to have sex due to the opks and you have the chart to confirm it and this will be usefull from month to month. Read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It is great. Best wishes ttc!!!!!!!!!!

for a lot of human beings... the toughest area of TTC is understanding their cycle. BBT is in simple terms yet another help in detecting you physique's organic rhythm. it is not inevitably a greater physically powerful source... and quite a few different women human beings use BBT and o.ok.at the same time to be greater specific of while ovulation occurs (the o.ok.tells you till now... on an identical time as the better temps following tutor it relatively did ensue) Even those charting temps use HPTs too... the BBT is to work out your style over the years, so in the adventure that your first month TTC isn't helpful, you need to use this records to bigger pinpoint your next cycle... etc. The greater cycles employing BBT and different strategies mixed, the greater you will comprehend precisely the place your physique is in its cycle. you're able to think of it is not nicely worth it by using fact as quickly as the temp rises... you ignored ovulation. this may be a technique that works over the years, and because it takes maximum folk 6 months to a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days to conceive, it is a useful source!

Opk's work best since they tell you at least 24-36 hours prior to ovulation. You can buy the cheap internet ones off of ebay. I have been using them and got a positive yesterday but my husband is gone so I can't have sex today but I did the day before I got the positive...so for Melissa..... How long did you have sex before you got a positive on the OPK and conceived? Should I be hopeful? thnx.

I simply relied on OPKs from the Dollar Tree (they are cheap and very accurate) and tested twice daily until I saw my LH surge. It only took one month to conceive. I highly recommend using the OPKs....and if I had to pick one method over the other I would choose that.
