If a couple already have a daughter and they have decided to have only one more child and want it to be a boy, is it okay to abort all babies that are female? Is this a good practise as per planned parenthood?

I thought abortion is the right of a woman on her body and she can have it for any whim and fancy. Also since it is a clump of cells why should one care whether it is male or female that is aborted?

I am NOT misrepresenting OR representing anything or anybody. I am just asking.

Only if that's the woman's choice. Also, if she wants to plow her SUV through a crowd of people, that's also her choice.

I think that's bad practice. By the time you can tell it's a boy or girl it's a little late to get an abortion. After getting many abortions a woman's womb will get messed up so when that boy does come around, he ends up handicapped because of her womb.

If you don't want a girl/boy. Adopt out until you get one.

No. That just proves that the parents don't unconditionally love their kids; and therefore, should not be parents.

Not sure if you are referring to the organization called Planned Parenthood or to the practice of parents planning their parenthood. If you are referring to the organization, then you are misrepresenting their position. PP does not promote aborting for any reason. It does present it as one of the options that a pregnant woman has.

ADDED: Regarding my opinion on whether it is ok.... That is what I personally would do. That is not to say that the law should change and other women with a different opinion should not be allowed by law to do it.

A good reason? Obviously not. But it is a reason. And if you were to start banning abortion based on premises such as these...it is only a thin line to banning it based on things such as medical problems, which then leads to more and more restrictions, and before you know it, it's completely banned altogether. This is why our right to abortion must stay in tact. So of course I would be appalled if someone aborted their baby based on its gender, but I would still stand by that woman's right to choose.

No- murder because of the gender is NEVER okay.

By the time gender is even known, the babies heart is beating, brain is working, organs are starting work.

And the baby can feel the pain of being murdered MONTHS before gender can be seen.

If they can't love another girl, maybe they should go to the doctor and be implanted with male sperm. Or not have kids.

That is wrong! You take what you get and any child is a miracle. The minute you see your baby you are in love no matter what the sex is...I always wanted a girl and I have 2 boys and I would not trade them in for the world. I am prochoice for women who dont feel as though they can take care of/parent a baby. I am not prochoice for gender abortions.

I have two girls and no boys. I know in certain parts of the world, I would be pitied because I don't have sons. However, I'm fine with it. I'm not concerned about carrying on the family name. If I had a boy, he might turn out to be gay or change his name somewhere along the way.

no it is not OK to abort all babies that are female to the couple. doctors would help the couple conceive the "right"sex child by gen manipulation , as to the question of good practice parenthood the method that i spoke of is but not the abortion method

Nope.....there are no GOOD reasons for abortion, because abortion is the throwing away of life, our most precious thing, the reason we are here today debating gender issues. The only VALID reason for abortion in my opinion is if the mother's life is in danger, serious danger.

I am pro-choice but morally oppposed to abortion.

it's done in asia all the time. they have 'son preference' and have aborted millions of female fetuses, so much that the genders are now heavily skewed in favor of males. it makes it difficult for males to find wives and many ohter consequences have occurred. sometimes they also practice infanticide, killing the female babies.

in the west, most sane people oppose choosing a gender, or any other characteristic.

Planned Parenthood does not endorse that kind of "planning." Gender preference might be acceptable in India where you live but it sure isn't in the USA, even in the feminist community.
