sentenced to 6 months in jail with 200 lashes?
If the Bush truly believes in freedom and democracy for all, isn't this really the first step?

The answers so far are quite surprising.
So how many of you answering 'no' that we should not involve ourselves in Saudi politics, supported the invasion of Iraq?

Pythagoras: Drudge report has a link that explains that the lady was trying to retrieve a picture from a former boyfriend and that she was taken at knifepoint to a secluded area by the ex and gang raped by 7 men. So no, it was not an adulturous affair. It was a heinous crime however (no matter the circumstances) and it is sickening to see the victim get punished for it.

An honorable President would expose this barbarity every chance he got, and openly demand the Victim not be further persecuted.
Travesties like these do not go unnoticed by oppressed Muslims around the world, and as a result more of them will be radicalized, making all of us less safe.

Quite frankly, I think that we should not be meddling in the cultural affairs of other nations.
First of all, I am not justifying gang-rape, but if I am not mistaken, the woman who was gang-raped received her punishment for having an adultrous affair. Apparently, that is illegal under Saudi Law.
Secondly, a nation can be free and democratic, and still opt to subject the people who violate their laws to this sort of punishment if the citizenry approves. One does not preclude the other.
To answer your second question, I initially supported the invasion of Iraq because I thought it was in our best interests. Having said that, I think the time for getting our troops out is overdue.

I think he should, as it would help him if he is trying to up his numbers. But, he should be doing it for the woman, not for himself. I think it is a barbaric practice, which is why I would never travel to that area of the world. I have been all over the US & all over Europe, but I think I will stick with that. The Mid-East is not civilized enough for anyone to travel to. Treating women the way they do is reprehensible.

boy talk about victimizing the victim twice. I don't know what kind of god they worship, but if their gods laws require punishing victims then I would question the validity of their arguements or their motivations.
second I would suspect they are guilty of a hate crime, isn't it a hate crime to single out someone for different treatment because they are a certain color, race, gender or whatever?
why do the saudis and the like hate woman so much? do they realize that if they hate woman they hate themselves after all they marry them, have children by them, etc, if they are evil why are they having any dealings at all with them? why can't they admit they feel threatened by woman? people who are self confident and have nothing to prove do not oppress others their positions are not threatened by them, only people afraid of losing their face, positons, money or power oppress those whom they fear.
after all someone can condemn another by just their behavior and actions without a word (just like a woman can win over her husband to the bible way of doing things just by her actions without a word) noah condemned the people of his day not just through words but by his actions.
he showed through his obedience to God that those others were inexcusable for not obeying him (God), (meaning they couldn't say they didn't understand or feel they were capable of doing right so they should be excused from punishment)
NO I am guessing since they fear woman so much (probably due to religious teaching about how powerful woman are in getting men to sin you know eve gave adam the fruit and he ate of it knowing full well what the serpent said was a lie) they hate them. we hate what we fear, people who fear snakes hate them, once some of that fear is reduced it changes to fasination, tho respect.
so why do they hate woman so much?

I think Hillary pardoned Bill in her mind for raping Broaddrick and molesting Wiley and exposing himself to Jones.
So, Hillary would probably say that the rapists should be set free. Right?

No. Pres. Bush should've gone back to his original policy back when he was running for president. Do not interfere in other countries, especially an Islamic state. There is no way anyone can change guiding principles of Islamic states.
That's the true conservative policy.
