It's an entire series.

I encourage people to read the book all the time. It was a great piece of literature. The story is based, as you know, in the Province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The island is an awesome place to visit. I have been there on several visits and it ushers you back in time to when this country had an agricultural base.

Good, that is what I found on Wikipedia: 'Anne of green Gables is the first movie in a trilogy of movies founded on the titular persona. In 1987 the film's sequel, Anne of Avonlea, was released. (It was subsequently retitled Anne of inexperienced Gables: The Sequel on dwelling video.) In the united states the ultimate film, Anne of green Gables: The carrying on with Story, was aired on July 23, 2000, and aired on March 5, 2000 in Canada. The final film handed over Anne's residence of goals - the corresponding Anne novel - in favor of a plot now not featured in Bernard Law Montgomery's sequence, and didn't obtain the equal vital reward as the primary two movies. The first two Anne movies generated a spin-off television sequence which aired from 1989 to 1996 and starred Sarah Polley. The avenue to Avonlea series featured characters and episodes from a few of Montgomery's books. Anne herself did not show up in the episodes, however Gilbert Blythe, Marilla Cuthbert, and different characters from the Anne books had been incorporated. In 2008, the fourth in the sequence, titled Anne of inexperienced Gables: a new commencing was completed. The movie stars Barbara Hershey, Shirley MacLaine, and Rachel Blanchard and it introduces Hannah Endicott Douglas as the new Anne Shirley. The film is both a sequel and a prequel to Sullivan's trilogy. In 2000 - 2001, Sullivan Animation produced Anne of inexperienced Gables: The Animated sequence including 26 half hour episodes. The series used to be developed for PBS and each and every episode contained an educational and/or moral element. In 2005, Sullivan Animation additionally produced the function length animated film Anne: trip to inexperienced Gables which is an ingenious, whimsical prequel to Sullivan's reside motion Anne of green Gables movie.' Hope it helps! ;)

oh I LOVE anne of green gables!
It was a huge series back based on her books. I think it was called Anne of Avonlea. Then there was a spin off called Road to Avonlea.
I used to have them all on VHS tape. If you haven't read the books too. They're in the young adult section of the library by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
I did dig up this article
http://www.sullivanmovies.com/anneoct16.html. It says they will return in 2008 to movies

The original PBS series was wonderful. I didn't see the recent showing, but it is worth renting or buying the videos, IMHO, whether or not you believe anything is missing!
