Bush's reputation as President now is largely determined by the mass media that is dominated by the left of the country. Obviously the political landscape of the time is volatile. The news has shifted from being primarily an information provider to pushing a political agenda of some kind. Bush has been thrown to the wolves.

It's a mistake to assume that the current political opinions of the country now will dictate how history will view President Bush and his role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After this next election and into a new decade hindsight might prove that his actions were essential in not only resolving middle eastern conflict but more importantly, preserving America and protecting it from radical jihadist attacks. I think the current opinions of Bush are myopic due to the leftist views of today's mass media.

I think the current residents of Idaho or Montana would object, creating a similar situation between those people and the Palestinians (compared to the Palestinian/Israeli situation).

Or do you envision Bush carving out a piece of Iraq for them? Or perhaps he'll pass along his "ranch" in Crawford once he doesn't have to pretend to be a cowboy for political image.

Other than that, what makes you think he can magically "grant" them their own nation?

The president has no real power to solve the israeli-palestinian conflict. No matter what happens at annapolis, its success or failure will depend entirely on the israelies and palestinians, not on Bush. I expect that whatever happens will be short term or symbolic at best.

No President can GRANT any of the people involved in this any thing.
All he can do is supply a forum and moderate the argument and try to get these people to talk to each other.
