Turn it on and find out, if it doesn't work it is quite possible you killed the hard drive.

If you turn it on and it boots properly, you should be fine. Most likely you would damage the screen or the hard drive from a fall, but since it was in a bag, it probably will be ok.

The only way to tell if it is working is to turn it on and see what happens.

If the case and display are not broken, then you are probably going to be OK. Most laptops are designed to take minor falls like that.

Try turning it on...

If you received any damage, it will be immediately apparent.

I would guess the hard drive might be damaged, but it's fairly easy to replace.

Always back up your data!

80% i would would say yes
only a foot and a half fall probibly wont hurt it too badly
but! you can never be sure until you check it
