means to say you have new laptop?dont cha... ok besthing to do is to removed your old hardisk from the one with damaged motherboard... then use usb external driver--suited with the old hardisk.. then attached your usb comtible driver to the usb of new LT-the new one will read all of your data. then you can transfer now.

but make it sure that the old one doesnt damaged your hardisk... you will get it hard time to retrive it,.. take note do not format the old hardisk..

I am going to side with Ron M on this one. Remove the hard drive from the non-working notebook, get your hands on a external hard drive enclosure. Make sure the enclosure will work with your drive. The process to get all this done is straight forward and a typical user should be up to the task without an issue.

You can transfer the data from your old hard drive to the new computer by removing the hard drive from the old machine, installing it into a external hard drive enclosure. Connect the external drive to your new system via it's USB cable and simply copy and paste or drag and drop whatever data you need.

Take out the harddrive and put it in the other one.

If you can make a slave out of it do that.

If that doesn't work get an interface to a PCI slot for your main desktop then transfer from there.
