The Outsiders was probably one of my favorite books when I was in school. I checked it out from the library on a whim one day and fell in love with it. I ended up buying a copy and read it & reread it more times then I can remember. It's actually the book from my youth that captured my attention and turned me into the voracious reader I am today, so for that aspect I'm thankful. My interest in the book led me to find S.E. Hinton's other books. They are good also, but not as good as The Outsiders.

The movie is ok. A bit too over dramatic for my tastes but that's Francis Ford Coppola for you. It's worth seeing, but some scenes were just too over the top for me and almost silly. It does however stay pretty true to the plot of the movie.

I loved the book the outsiders when I was assinged to read the book in 7th grade. Thats the only book I like assigned from a teacher. The movie was good also. But I hate the ending. It was so sad for me I almost cried. I thought it was a good book for teenagers. It shows alot of companionship and friendship between pony and Johnny. And love also.

My daughter's 8th grade class just finished reading the book. She loved it. We rented the movie so she could watch and she loved it too. They are going to have an "Outsiders": party at the school.....they are really looking forward to it.

Sad. Just sad. B/c one kid died then another. But the ending is a slightly feel good one like u think the kid who wrote it has intentions of trying to change the world through words.
