Hi all, I am 5 months pregnant now and as usual I am dying to know my baby's gender but when I went for my USG they could not certainly tell me as the baby positioned itself in such a way that they said its "SHY"!!!
could anyone tell me any other process by which i can determine as to what am i having as i really wanna go shopping now! The sale and all is on!!
Could anyone also tell me how many times more will they go for USG as they said if I ask them to do it again...and there is no medical necessity for it so it won't be covered by my insurance! Any advice??

Ultrasound and amniocentisis are the only ways to tell for sure. Their are alot of old wives tales that I am sure people will offer to you. I am sure your OB can think of a medical reason to order another ultrasound if not I don't think they cost as much as they used to because of the new 4D ultrasounds that are so popular now. It's definately worth looking into. I know the urge to outfit the nursery and fill those little drawers with tiny little clothes is overwhelming.

Well, in my family my grandfather always does the wedding ring on a string over the belly. (you can google it, too) Anyways, he does this at only a few months pregnant, and he has never been wrong. With my mom, aunt, cousins, everyone has been right. He did my tummy and it was a boy, and sure enough the ultrasound showed a boy. Sounds a little wierd, but it works for my family.

My dr gave me another ultrasound at 34 weeks. That is what they schedule for. 20 and 34, but im not sure all dr's do that. You could go to the hospital with cramping.. Though cramping is normal, they always do an U.S there... Im not saying that is the best answer but... If you cant afford to pay for another one and dr dont give it, ers usually do... However that might cause bad karma.. Maybe your lil one just wants you to be surprised. Buy some unisex stuff.. Good luck to you..

Look into getting a 3D ultrasound. It will probably cost you between $150-$350, but could tell you the sex of the baby and you would get a good look at your little one.
Best of luck!!!

There is no other way to know. You just have to wait until they can see. Why don't you go buy some cute unisex things for now? There are plenty!
