Is a Toshiba laptop a good laptop for someone doing basic internet searching and keeping files?

Most new models are built for a lot more than that =)
Any newer version toshiba (satellite esp) will more than suffice.

Yes, toshiba makes good laptop. In fact, my toshiba laptop is 5 years old and still working great, so it's definitely a good choice!!
