Hello all. Any clue as to how I might calculate the amount (in square feet) of siding planks i would need?

On each wall, measure length and width. (Example 40' X 10'= 400 square feet.)
So a 20' X 40' home with 10' walls would equal 1,200 sf, plus gable ends. If roof has a 4/12 pitch, 20' X 4'= 80sf, so home has 1,280 sf. I didn't deduct for windows and doors because you should add 10% for waste anyway. It should work out real close.

Um...with all due respect I suspect the size of the areas in question; while knowing the widths and lengths of each plank; then adding no less than 10% for waste; etc.

IE: An exterior wall...windows or not; measures 25 wide by 25 high. That equates to 625 sq. ft.
