I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. The cats annoy the dogs, the dogs ignore the cats. My border collie tries to herd the cats and tries to break up their fights. Other than that, the dogs couldn't give a darn about the cats. Racing Greyhounds (and former racers), on the other hand, are trained to chase anything that moves- including cats. While there are a few that will leave the kitties alone, it's safer to assume they will go after the cats until you're certain they won't.

Hard to say as I have seen dogs chase cats and I have also seen cats chase dogs. I think it all depends on the personalities of the animals!

Sometimes dogs chase cats, but sometimes cats chase dogs. And sometimes they live together quite happily, and dogs can babysit the kittens while the mom goes out for a bit of fun. I know this because that is what my cat used to do ... and the dogs (both part wolf) LOVED being allowed to take care of those kittens, and treated them very gently and carefully.

I most most likely suppose they may be able to get emotionally hooked up. My one cat would keep a grudge at any time when I went on trip the place she would ignore me for just a few days before she would let me love her up once more. I believe she was definitely hurt that I left her. My different cat offers her love away to any one, but she loves it when I come home and she hides when she sees me packing my baggage to return to school. She additionally takes care of my different cat who isn't vivid at all. They are excellent acquaintances but she's going to lick him and play with him much more after he comes back from the vet or getting groomed or some thing. Additionally when my first little grudging kitty used to be passing away she used to be so scared (her back legs have been paralyzed in view that of a blood clot) and once I obtained there she calmed down quite a bit. Now i'm crying again :(

typically if a cat makes itself into a target - either by hissing or running - the dog will chase it..
however a cat well socialized to ignore the dog will not be bothered.
some dog breeds are Notorious for chasing / killing cats - Huskies being one of them, sight hounds also (eg. Grey hounds - dogs bred to chase anything small that moves) and terriers...
