Blame it on the bible. There's always some Bronze Age goat herder spoiling every party.

What's wrong with gay marriage is that there are a bunch of close-minded hypocrites, who simply believe that gay and lesbian couples should not be able to enjoy the same legal benefits and privileges that hetero couples do, period. Anything else - like thumping the Bible - is just a handy-dandy excuse to keep the inequality going. It's the same mentality that some whites used to have about black families moving into their neighborhoods...they believed that if the BLACKS moved in, it would bring down the property values of all the houses. Fancy that.
There are just too many examples now of legalized gay marriage in other countries where civilization as they knew it did NOT end once the law was passed. But anyone who thinks that any advances will be made with our current administration is living in a dream world.
And, I notice that all the trolls chimed in as usual, with asinine comments and inaccurate Biblical quotes. It wasn't that long ago that the same kind of people were screaming about interracial RELATIONSHIPS: note, I did NOT say marriage. Just the idea of a black person dating a white person and vice versa was enough to have these idiots conjuring up visions of the Apocalypse.
Well, guess what? Now even the worst soap opera can have a hot black guy romancing a blond, Nordic-looking white woman and the government has not declared martial law because of it. I suspect that sooner or later, the same thing will happen with gay marriage, civil unions, whatever you want to call them.

Marriage is not a holy ceremony. It is a civil ceremony that is viewed as holy by some members of society. Marriage does not belong to religion. People don't have to get married in a church, and loads of marriages are between non-religious people and have no mention whatsoever of a god in the ceremony or the vows.
Marriage didn't originate with religion either. According to the Bible is was ordained by god, but according to actual historical fact, marriage was a social construct designed as a social and financial union between a couple, and by extension, their families. It wasn't even for love back then.
The nature and purpose of marriage has constantly been redefined over the centuries. First it became an expression of love and commitment, then it became about raising a family, then taboos about interracial marriages were challenged and ended. The same taboos regarding marriage between two people of the same gender are also being challenged now.
Marriage has meant different things to different people, but one constant is that is has always been a civil union. Every other element of meaning in marriage has been an additive, born from culture or religion.

I think there is nothing wrong with gay marriage. I am bisexual and want to marry a woman. And when I find the right woman I hope gay marriage will not be banned.

There's nothing wrong with it. In all of Canada, gay marriage is legal, and so far, the country hasn't fallen into the ocean. People are getting along great. Sure, there was some initial resistance, and the government tried to re-open debate and to change the law (that attempt was defeated), and people live and let live proving there is nothing wrong with this. As a matter of fact, the gay marriage rate has been reported as climbing at five time the rate of opposite-sex marriages.

nothing, If you notice in history there is always something that is "bad" it used to be African Americana's. Now that we are over that stage we find some other ethnicity to pick on. there's nothing wrong with it especially since it is not our life's. So there for we should not intrude. summary of all this is that people think they are allowed into anyone life but whenever the tables are turned they think it is cruel. One day it will be excepted, no one will even recognize the difference, but until then this is how it will be.

Nothings wrong with it. But unfortunately there are religious zealots and close minded people who somehow think two people getting married will affect THEIR marriage, or cause the coming of the Lord, or increased natural disasters (these people usually aren't playing with a full deck).

We have it in UK, and guess what? Nothing bad happened since it became legal, we didn't get heaps of straight people getting a divorce just so that they could try out a gay marriage just because they can or anything...

There is no legal reason for gays to marry, but people always use religion as an excuse. I am totally for gay marriage. I should have the same rights as every other American.

I can't think of any reason why to disallow it other than a slight decrease in tax revenue. Other than that, the only objections are moral or religious based, and those should not be considered.
