depends on the jurisdiction.

In most states that allow you to carry a concealed weapon, you may carry one with a permit. Most states do not require a permit for a shotgun, but there could be local regulations on how it must be carried. Hunting and protection are different purposes completely. What is it you are protecting yourself from? When carrying a weapon for "protection", it is important to consider what it may be that is a threat.

dude, a concealed carry permit has nothing to do with carrying a gun in your vehicle. Anyone who's not a felon can have a weapon in their car. I've been licensed and carrying for 4 years now, but I've had a gun in my vehicle since I was 18. and it DOES NOT have to be out in the open...your vehicle is an extension of your home and you have every right to conceal it in your car. If you are pulled over you need to tell the cop right off the bat that you have a loaded weapon in your car and if you have a permit, you are legally obligated to let a police officer know....all of this is assuming you are not in a wacky lefty state like california or D.C.....wonder why theres so many murders there???????
DAVID- a weapon in your vehicle has nothing to do with "open carry"...thats on your person

It depends on the laws of the jurisdiction in question. Note that most "concealed carry" states do not permit open carry.
As a general proposition, an unloaded shotgun is nothing but a club...and if you have enough time to load and rack a shotgun, you have enough time to get out of Dodge.

You dont want a firearms license to purchase a gun in california.you basically ought to pass a needed historic past verify, and watch for the ten day waiting era to end.For handguns, you want a handgun protection certificate.Oh,and dont forget the protection try:they're going to make you load 3 rounds contained in the mag and cycle all of them by.
