She IS in labor, technicaly.
It is the early stage (or latent phase) of labor, which can last for days or even weeks.
There is no such thing as a "fake contraction." They are all real and help to dilate and efface the cervix.

Totally normal. With my 3 last pregnancy's I was in false labor off and on for the last 2-3 weeks and with my 4th baby I walked around the last month of my pregnancy at 3-4 cm. Everyone's labors are sooo unique.

well you know how the saying goes, "everyone is different". I myself have 4 kids and with all 4 it was a different story. with my 1st i was dilated to 3 for the longest time with no labor, with my 2nd i was dilated to 1 and poof i was in labor, 3rd i was induced but i was walking around dilated at 3 and with my 4th omg it was crazy i was dilated to a 3 no labor then it CLOSED BACK UP and i was back at a 1 still no labor, but i had a high water leak and was induced.... so i guess everyone is different not just the people but also the children lol....

It is different for every woman but normally, one needs to be 10 cm dilated before they are ready to deliver a baby. The contraction and other things that are entailed in a pregnancy differs from one woman to another. Some experience severe pain while others are tolerable.

I was 3-4 centimeters dialated for several weeks before I gave birth to my second child. The Dr. told me that it was not uncommon.

It all depends on the doctor. Some doctors if it is past the due date, they will bust the bag so the water can break. Some doctors if you have dialated and it is not your due date they will not do anything. It just totally depends on the situation and the doctor.

Totally normal...women can go into labour without being dilated at all...others will reach 6, 7 cms or so without a labour pain in sight.
My sister went to 2 cm at 35 weeks and stayed there for a month, for example...
Your experience was what's normal for you...hers is what's normal for her. :)

everyone and everytime can be different, so what happen to you or what happen to her the 1st and 2nd time might not be the case this time. I think most importantly if she feels sick she needs to be seen. But if not then have her relax and enjoy the little time she has left before that hard labor.
Good Luck and tell her Congrats!!

You are most often no longer going to love this reply, decades! I had the equal situation with my daughter and ultimately needed to be brought on. Piece of recommendation- make certain that you simply do not need a leak for your bag of water that you simply suppose is simply urine. Try mowing the garden or intercourse, that consistently labored for my different ones! :)
