I'm positive that when they picked it that they weren't expecting the game to be a battle for the NFC. Packers looked good at the end of last year but I still don't think they were thinking the Pack would be even playoff contenders. With that being said, did they pick this game because they didn't have top choice for the games being played. It seems to be me out of the 8 games they picked it would have been (at the start of the season) the 8 best games of the season.

No reason - other than the Cowboys and Packers are two old franchises that would make a great game.

Hopefully the Packers will win and Brett Favre will show Tony Romo/Brett Favre wannabe what a real QB does.

They wanted to give both teams a week to prepare for the game. Since both played last Thursday, they are playing again this Thursday. Plus, the Packers and the Cowboys are two of the most popular teams in the league. Would you rather watch the Falcons vs Lions?

Thursday night football sucks. So both these teams played last week, so for two weeks in a row they have Thursday games. But after that, every team playing has only 3 days to prepare for the next game. That is a joke.

I agree...shouldn't the NFL have access to "tweak" the schedule as the year progresses? Like the Sunday night game with the Pats and Bills, what a joke, Just do like college football and shift schedules the week before and everybody wins. I also think the Pats/Colts game should have been on a Sunday night or Monday.

So people can switch to satellite and pay bucks just for that. In that case the NFL Network, wil then profit and put a higher cost on their network packaging towards the dish and cable networks, based on what the consumer is willing to pay for one game. Smart business move, but alot of Time Warner Cable subscribers are hurt, unless they make the switch. Money is the basis of this decision, unfortunately that's what everything is coming down to.

The NFL is looking pretty stupid for having such a great game on a network that hardly anyone has access to (or they have to pay extra to get).
Obviously they don't care about the fans.
The last Patriots game is on the NFL network too and they could be going for an undefeated record.

30 years ago, they many men of the moon assembled to create Thursday night Football, the Packers are secretly known as the Warriors with No Name, and The Cowboys are known as the Three Rabbits. They are bitter enemies, and they must fight to determine who is the true owner of the sword of truth.

I seriously doubt they were expecting the NFC championship game to take place in November when they set the schedule.
If it bothers you, go to a sports bar, have a nice meal and watch the game.

they both appeared to be contenders for their division at the end of last year. they might not have expected gb to be this good but it turned out better than they might have expected. gb also almost made the wild card last year and went on a win streak at the end of last year.

I think it's because they both played on Thanksgiving Day, and it would have less disruption to teams routines. If they picked other teams, they would be playing on 3 days rest. I realize this happens for other Thursday games, but at least for one week they could avoid it.
