Westlake Hills...heck, even the Four Points area (which is actually in Austin) are both nice areas...
It would also help to know if you are going to be working in town, and what part of town, because if you are working on the south side of Austin, you don't want to deal with the traffic going back and forth from Round Rock or Georgetown....

Bastrop has a really nice small town feel to it and beautiful to top. It is growing, but gracefully. My sister lives there and I love to visit. There are a lot of projects to build new businesses there as well. I really love it there. Some others are Hutto, Dripping Springs, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Buda, Kyle. I know there are more, but that's all I could think of at the moment.

In no particular order: Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander, and Buda are on the very edge of the city limits (there's another one on the west side but I can't remember the name, but it's very expensive).
A little further out, there's: Georgetown, Dripping Springs, Kyle, San Marcos (a city on its own), Lockhart, Bastrop, among others.
I'm sure I forgot some, but what I mentioned were the main ones.

Elgin is a good suburb of Austin. Fairly small and great schools.

Kyle is nice and quickly growing. Housing is still fairly affordable there.
