just yesterday i purchased a new graphics card (an ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO, AGP). its seemed to install fine, and i was able to download the software from the CD, and then change the graphics preferences from the control center. But when i tried to play World of Warcraft, the screen came back to my desktop with an error saying "world of warcraft could not start up 3D acceleration".

it wasnt only this game, however...i cannot play any game that requires DirectX. I made sure i had DirectX 9.0C installed, and i tested it and everything.

one thing i found, however, was while testing it, the test failed on Direct 3D. it said "test failed at step 8 (creating 3D devices)."

i unplugged the graphics card, and tried it that way...and it works! world of warcraft plays...and there is no error code in Direct 3D, but with the card in, my games wont play.

help!

If youre system has an integrated video card in the motherboard, be sure to go into BIOS to disable this if not running dual monitor setup, as game is probably being confused and trying tio use wrong card.

You can also check world of warcraft support forums to see if your video card is supported.

Also go to the manufactures website, and check if there are updates for the driver and software, For your Video Card.

I hope this helps. Good luck also if you need further help email me.

Some games does not support other video cards due to structure incompatibility. Also, if you are using two video cards, built in and slot type, probably they are somewhat having conflict with each other. Try to configure its setting on which video card to use.

I would install Directx10 and see if that does it.

Make sure you have the latest WoW patch.
