Right click on My Computer
Select Properties
Click the Hardware tab
Click the Device Manager Button
Click on the plus sign next to Display Adapters

What does it say there?
Go to the Sims 2 site and look for the specs for Pets. Is your graphics card supported? If it is you need to update your driver. Go to the manufactures website and find the driver for your card.
If the card is not supported you'll have to get a new one that is.

When you say downloaded, are you referring to illegally pirating software? If so, that's likely the issue. Illegal software typically crashes and ruins your game. Go buy the legal version, uninstall and reinstall everything.

If not, it's likely your graphics card or RAM. Basically, your computer isn't good enough to run all of the expansion packs at the same time; they are too much for your computer to handle. You either need a better graphics card or more RAM, which you can buy at a computer store and have installed for you.

make sureyou are closing down your background task when you play ctrl, alt and delete will open task window click on user name tab right click and end progress tree ONLY on hp_owner do this until you have only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe now end process on the taskmgr.exe(this close's the window) now run your curser across the bottom of screen from start to the clock, this will give your pc more memory while you play. now ea games told me about a hidden folder that does not always get cleaned out by disc clean up or defrag here is how to find that folder. after you have close every thing down click on start then run type %TEMP% this is the folder right click and delete everything, try running you game, if the problem continues it could be way to much custom content try cleaning it up i have included 3 links #1 this site is free but you must join http://modthesims2.com/
#2 this one will put downloads right into your gamehttp://qxpress.modthesims2.com/

Your video card cannot handle such large files, you have to get a new one.
