I removed my working hard drive from my laptop since it contained a lot of my pictures which i needed. I put it tinto a hard drive case and on connecting it via usb it fails to show up on my computer. However the usb port recognises it and when I go into disk management it shows me the drive which isnt formatted and asks me to partition it - I will loose all data should i do this... WHAT DO I DO ????

What Windows version was the laptop drive installed with ? ANd what being used on the other PC ?

If the laptop had a newer OS than the other PC it quite likely cannot read ot, also some caddies are FAT32 only, and if drive is NTFS (XP, NT, Vista etc) might not be readable

You want to transfer all your data from your laptop to some other media. First you fix your laptop hdd to your laptop and get it to work properly. Simply connect a external cd-writer to the laptop or usb hard drive or if your hard drive case supports to connect a internal writer connect any one of the device to laptop and simply write all the pictures. this is the safest way without disturb any thing.

Buy a USB hard drive. If you took it out of your computer it was probably there for a reason. Try finding a driver if you absolutely want to use your internal drive as a USB HD.
