My thoughts: blended families have not decreased.
and c people living alone might not have anything to with family.

I would say A.
There are many more households with extended family members living in them today.
There has been a big increase in grandparents rising grandchildren especially.
I read that "grandparents rising grandchildren" now out number all other households in the US where minor children are being rised by adults other then their biological parents.
This being largely due to today's drug culture. Either the bio-parents have died from overdose, are in re-hab for drug addiction or in jail/prison for drug dealing or manufactoring.
