Mr. Thomas is very correct, a portion of Americans will blindly follow socialist leaders like a piped piper, never knowing or understanding they are being deceived. We call this portion of our society "liberals". They are completely in denial as they goose step to hell on earth.

I am from a portion of our American society that is diametrically opposed to socialism. I know it is a false, idealisticly based ideology that not only does not work, it always leads to corruption and may develop into dictatorships.

The "Michael Moore" type cretins, are doing the work that Mr Thomas is describing. These cretins disguise their intentions while defecating on our American ideals- patriotism, faith, family unit and freedom. If you don't understand Michael Moore's true intentions are false, then you can be assured you are part of the "kool aid' liberal army.

Sadly, our liberals are brain washed lemmings who react to diatribes about capitalism, corporations and love of America, as if these ideals are the poison of our society. Liberals spit on the America, our forefather sacrificed and fought for!

There are some Americans who oppose socialists and recognize they are truly the enemy from within; this is why we are so vocal and combative towards liberalism.

I believe I just read something in The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis that speaks to that. It basicaly says that one should not base his morals on his spiritual beliefs but should infact base them on social beliefs instead because what is spiritual should flow with the social beliefs example... The fact that one does not kill another human because of bad feelings and the punishment one gets. This carrys over into the spiritual domain. I cant honestly understand why someone would say the sin of unbelief in God is greater then any other sin. Do we say that things that dont exist are Evil? Because thouse are the things that are truely in unbelief of even themselfs. At least an atheist has faith in the fact that self exists and others also. This is alot of faith to give compaired to the nothingness that is the void.

He was a little too optimistic about his silly socialist aspirations, but it never ceases to amaze me how people refer to the left as 'liberal' in America.

Liberalism is basically the opposite of socialism in economic terms.

As if the catastrophes of National Socialism and Marxism weren't enough, Hugo Chavez is arranging another object lesson for the world...but some people will still refuse to see the truth once Venezuela ends in catastrophe.

Class envy is powerful stuff. It overrides common sense all too often. How strange that some people with perfectly sound finances would accept slavery in the form of collectivism simply to get back at those who have a bit more.

America did adopt socialism without knowing it. It lasted over a hundred years until President Nixon put an end to it.
Socialism is government control of wealth. That is exactly what happened after the Civil War when a US currency was established.
The founding fathers never authorized the federal government to issue currency. When the USA went on the gold standard, it seized all the gold in the country. Just as in the USSR, this socialism failed in the early 1970s, as the federal government bankrupted the treasury.

The possibility exists. The natural evolution of nations seems to indicate that certain aspects of that are, and have been, taking place for the past 70 years.

"When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."
Sinclair Lewis

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
Samuel Adams

We could have quote wars all day. I do agree though, that there are some thought provoking quotes out there.

I agree. Socialized medicine, high taxes, and the abolishment of religion in the public square are all hallmarks of socialism. Wake up people.
