My wife had been told for most of her adult life that she could not concieve, 2 years ago she miscarried and almost 2 weeks ago she gave birth to a healthy daughter. She was on Metformin for a while before her cycle became regular.

I was on Metformin for about a year for PCOS. I stopped taking it when I got pregnant. My periods were fairly regular while I was on it but I still had some odd months.

Are you on it for PCOS, diabetes, or something else?? Whatever you are taking it for might be effecting your cycles.

You might be getting sick or just having an off month. Or if you are under extra stress (holidays, tis the season!) that might be throwing you off. Or, you might be pregnant!

I would take an inexpensive home pregnancy test.

No matter what the result, give the doctor a call. If you miss the period all together, s/he will probably want to know. When I missed one back in July they wanted to "force" it down with.....I forget the name of the drug but it's something like Provera.

But take the test to ease your mind right away. Then call the doctor and ask for some advice about what to do next!

Good luck

I have been on metformin for somewhere around 3 years. 1000 mg a day. I have PCOS. Well turns out every cycle runs long. I always have cramping and nausea always think i'm pregnant and I never am.. lol. So you could be, becuase you were regular to on the meds to begin with, or your body may have adjusted to the metformin and you need more to regulate.

I would suggest that you go and get a pregnancy test. It may be that you're pregnant since many of the early pregnancy signs are identical to PMS. Metformin is no fun, it makes you sick and gives you additional cramping. Good luck.. baby dust to us both!
