Pretend I'm happy hmmm I never pretend anything unless I do so playfully. I gladly dig in my pockets. I think of those who have less than me. Those who have to spend their nights in the cold without a roof over their heads. Those who have nothing to eat at night. Then I am happy that I am able to go out in a store and buy Christmas presents for others. If something makes me unhappy I have the power to change it. The only thing I'm not happy about is my figure. I'm on a diet now and trying to change it. Hope you find peace with this answer. Love Maeve.

I'm sorry but I don't really like Christmas any more.
I used to but nowadays it is just a big expense and normally the weather is nothing special. So everyone sits around eating a big dinner and the kids unwrap loads of presents and you are there thinking about how much it is all costing.
Then you go for a walk, it is cloudy and grey and gets dark early - that's it. Back to the house for more food and the telly.
I would like it if we could have a really good white christmas and go out sledging etc. It would be nice if the kids had fewer toys - but ones that they really like and enjoy playing with.
At the moment - they ask for a load of stuff and I know some of it isn't really going to be played with that much.

I'm not a big fan. I try to go away to a non Christian country preferably Buddhist, for Xmas. The kids enjoy it more and have a great time into the bargain. They also expect less in the present line and value what they do get. Xmas is not a religeous festival it is a consumerist bomb attack and i don't want to be a casualty of war.

i used to love christmas, especially when my children were small. i used to get really excited for them. looking back, what i used to think of as a bit of a pain, i now wish i had got it all back again, and the thing i am talking about is when my children used to run into my bedroom shouting "hes been, hes been"! happy memories.i still like christmas, but the sparkle went a bit when the kids stopped beliving in santa! after saying that though, this is our first christmas, in our new home, with a new tree, and a new husband! so yes, i am looking forward to it more this year.

I love Christmas!
You don't have to dig in your pockets for what isn't there, girl. Give what you have to give...a little of yourself, maybe? Just be with those you care about you and vice-versa! How about a big hug for a present. If your family isn't happy just to have you around....find another family!

I love Christmas... I mean at the start I get really depressed but then I keep myself busy decorating and dressing really Christmasy. And if you dress really Christmasy and walk down the store everybody smiles at you and it makes you happy :) it did for me. I suppose it was like the ultimate acceptance and I didn't feel so alone :) But other than that I do love Christmas because everybody is so much happier and yeah. I do think children now-a-days don't appreciate Christmas.. I admit I was like that, but I grew out of it. It's because it's so commercialized I suppose, maybe you should try weaning every person you get a gift for off of expensive gifts, I just buy something sweet and sentimental for my family, like for my dad I always draw him a large picture of our family and put it in a frame.. like one year it was a collage of all of his loved ones, the next year it was his grand-daughter (I know it sounds stupid but he really appreciates it). But yeah to answer your question I do love Christmas - and I'm not even religious :P

I love Christmas. Spending time with your family, and celebrating the birth of CHRIST. The only problem is that people are forgetting the true meaning of Christmas. It's not all about Santa Claus, Gifts, and such; it's about celebrating JESUS' birth. HE is the reason for the season, not how much money you can spend on gifts.

I used to love christmas but, retail makes it come too fast, by the time it gets here your already tired of it. It wasnt even Halloween yet, and I went into this store and they had christmas trees up not only that, they were playing the songs as well. "Frosty the Snowman" to be exact. I'm not a grinch or anything but I'm like "are you serious"?

I love Christmas, it's my favorite holiday. And it's about so much more than spending money. It's about spending time with friends and family and having a good time. I love to get presents, and I love to give presents, but it's about the thought that is put behind them, not about the amount spent.

Yes. But I think I understand what you mean. I hate being phony. (smiling when you don't feel like it, pretending to be happy when you just aren't.) I think most people feel this way and some people just don't smile or act happy when they aren't.
I try to do what I can to make Christmas as happy and beautiful as I can. I listen to Christmas music and decorate. I try not to obsess and just enjoy.
