The collective 'we' leads down a broad path. 'We' may be of many minds in how much credibility we lend to the thinking/speaking processes of animals.

My personal, singular opinion is that each species has their own means of communicating necessary information. Beyond that, idle chit chat may or may not exist in a language well above our ability to understand. But since we don't have an interpreter, we can only guess at what they are saying most of the time.

they managed to out live us in certain species so i would think that they are smarter than we give credit to
besides some of the oldest species have been around for millions of years insects, sharks and crocs so they must know something we dont
