carefully so the paper doesn't rip (which i don't understand because afterwards i wad it up and throw it out)

I try to undo the tape (making it look like I'm not being greedy). When the whole family is watching me open a present, I feel like I'm being greedy if I just wildly rip a gift open. Maybe I'm being overly paranoid . . .

Some of my friends and relatives gift wrap stuff up to survive a nuclear threat. Carefully isn't an issue, it's more "break out my welding mask, we're going to have to take the cutting torch to this one".

When I was a kid ( I'm 23 btw ) I used to just rip open all my presents but now I carefully unwrap it like an adult.
