i started smoking in the 70's, they were actually 49 cents a pack...............i can't believe it is almost $5 a pack now.
BTW, if you don't smoke, don't answer, i don't care what you think of them, REALLY, i don't, honest.......... ;)

They're already $6 some places here in Upstate NY. I'm having a really hard time quitting.
It's been about two days, and I'm getting money today. Really having an inner debate right now.

addictions are something that really cant be stopped without the aid of other help. If someone is addicted to drugs, they wont stop no matter what they will keep going until they get therapy or help with their addiction. If people are really commited to smoking and are addicted, they wouldnt stop if it was 8 dollars a pack...or 10 dollars. A person that just smokes every once in awhile will have alot easier time quitting. I reccomend any smoker to get on the patch, chew the non-smokin gum, or get help.....seriously.

I doubt it. Nicotine addiction is very serious. It does take a great deal of my money. I'm an addict. I need serious treatment for my addiction. I say I will quit at such and such a price but then I don't.
News flash, name brands are already 6 bucks a pack in NYC plus tax. So it cost me a little over 200 a month to smoke a pack a day. Complete waste of money.
My HMO paid for Chantix, it made me very ill. I am going to try it again cold turkey.
Most addicts don't quit do simply to cost of abused substance to include smokers.
I wish I never started.

Newports had gotten to be almost $5 here at one point in time, and that is when I stopped. They are back to regular price now, and I've only smoked like a pack since then!

in Canada, depending on the brand, they're about $10 or $11 a pack. that's highway robbery! although it may be a good way for people to cut down or quit..maybe

I won't quit if the price goes up, maybe slow down, but why quit having that simple pleasure of mine, I could be doing a lot of worse things with that money anyway.

$11 to $12 a pack in UK people still puff I stopped when i realised how much i stink every thing you own or wear smells like an ashtray no matter how much you wash it or spray it with deodorant or aftershave

Probably not.Thats almost like saying when gas goes to 6 bucks a gallon,i'm not going to buy any of that either.
