The FairTax is a great idea I'm 100% for it. Nobody gets out of it since everyone has to shop for food and clothes and every family get a government prebate at the begging of every month based on the number of people and income of the household. Plus it would be more effective than our current tax system which looses an estimated $945 billion a year to tax evasion alone.

On top of that it would shoot job growth out the roof since companies would actually be able to afford to business here and keep more of their money rather than sending it to the government.

I have approved of the Fair Tax in the past, as a compromise, to the ideal of abolishing income tax altogether, and replacing it with nothing....only because I thought it was impossible to get it done. But I truly believe the message in Aaron Russo's flim, America: Freedom to Fascism, and I have seem many other films with the same message. Income tax is a totally fraud, and the money is used for nothing more than to pay the interest from the money that the government borrows from the Federal Reserve...A completely private central bank, that is also a fraud against the American people and has no right to exist. The constitution authorizes Congress and only Congress to mint and print our currency. The consititution does not authorize Congress to deligate that job to any central bank. If you really research the history of the Central Banking interests, and how the central bank came to be, you will see what I mean. But, you have to really look at a lot of different sources, because I saw some that only touched the surface, and I had to keep looking. If it were not for the interest that our government is paying to borrow money that they should be minting and printing themselves (interest free), income tax would not be needed. Our Government gets its revenue from many different sources, and does not use the income tax for anything else but interest. So the fight to rid ourselves of both the income tax (replacing it with nothing), and the Federal Reserve, is well worth the fight. And this country will never be truly free again, until they are gone, because the Federal Reserve is the foundation of the power of those who are seeking to create their nightmarish vision of a New World Order. *sm*

From what little I know about the Fair Tax I think it sounds pretty good. Of course, I would need to do a little more research on it. In regards to Information_police I don't understand what he means by the rich will not spend their money so it will all fall onto the middle class, which most of the current taxes fall onto anyway. From what I can see the rich people still need to eat, buy cars, buy homes, buy clothes, etc. and I thought those are the things that the Fair Tax taxes.

The fair tax is a great plan, it would save people money and the Government would actually make more money in some cases. The problem is in people's minds. The Fair tax will get defeated because it is non-conventional - the same people that complain about income tax, will vote against it. People do not do the research anymore, they let their elected officials do it - our government was designed for the people to be informed and further inform their elected offials how to vote. If a politician is against something - it's probably good for the people and bad for the politician.

The fair tax is just that fair. It will work and it will save the American people a ton of money, which being the hard working people we are, we will put to use making things and investing in other businesses. Now, if we can just get that line-item veto to go with it so we can cut spending as well we will be in good shape.

It's much more realistic and achievable than Ron Paul's plan (saying he is going to abolish the IRS .. when all he will do is have another department collect taxes under a different name, all while duping people into believing he has that power as President.)

Take my word for it. The candidates that talk about abolishing income tax want to do it for one reason and one reason only. Reagan started the EIC for working families and since then each president has added more refund to that. The refunds can be several thousand dollars to the working poor and the IRS has lately been cracking down on EIC recipients. Some are defrauding the government with false claims but for the most part it's just too much money kicked back to working families with children. The fair tax is a sows ear dressed up to look like a silk purse. Don't believe it.

It's about time that someone brings a realistic idea to the table.
You will hear many who are unfamiliar cry that it is regressive, but they obviously have not looked at the details.
The only losers with this plan are those who are jealous of those people who achieve success. The libs who want a free ride compliments of the motivated will hate this idea and say it's not fair.

I think it's a much more useful plan than continuing our tax system the way it is. It's certainly more fair than our current system where the poor and middle class pay the majority of taxes.

The real issue is a flat tax. A certain percent after a deduction for dependents. This would make it easier to do your taxes. The more you make, the more you pay but at the same rate. It reduces the needs in government. Puts a lot of accountants out of work and that is why it will never work.
