I have a strong preference for Pontiacs, and have had great luck.
My last 3 cars have been: 2000 Platinum Edition Bonneville, 1997 40th Anniversary Edition Bonneville, and a 1993 Grand Prix.
The problems I've had weren't so bad: 2000 holds water in the trunk (working on that one,) replaced the fuel pump in the 1997 after driving it for two years at high mileage, and I needed to replace the battery once in the Grand Prix. Not bad for a list of car problems over a 7 year span.
I had extensive problems with my Chevy Celebrity, I had a Ford Taurus that lasted a week before blowing the head gasket, then a Buick Electra (Park Ave) with major electrical issues and doors that would pop open as I drove down the road.

Actually Pontiac people know more ways to get there questions answered. And we're "a little more well to do" have several computers and can carry on a conversation and type at the same time. MY 2006 GTO has been completely warranty free never in the shop for 21 months and 14,000 miles. Sure it is a Holden Manaro but quality of the car ability to read the owners manual all come into play here. My car came with a DVD owners manual. And I purchased the entire set of 3 GTO service manuals.

the automobile will idle like crap. outstanding off. Coolant could be leaking previous the hose clamps(the weakest element), then previous the water pump seal. Then heavily examine out the rad for white or greenish factors close to the tanks. continuously be certain coolant is as much as snuff in the previous beginning the automobile interior the morning. Rugged shifting may be a seperate transmission problem(no longer something to do with coolant). The thermostat may be defective and may be the priority inflicting the overheating. Head gasket is the final place i might seem by using fact it is not a difficulty area.

because they last for ever. I have a 1993 Grand Prix the tranny rain for 163,000 miles before it crapped out I'm shore that I would have lasted longer If I would have bean the original owner. the last time I changed the transmission fluid I got out peaces of clutch material and the tranny was still working fine! I have since then gotten it rebuilt. the engine runs like new It has the classic start up knock that most 3.1L V6 engines have. It has lots of power and it still gets around 28~30 MPG high way!. I basically give this car what ever it needs and in return I got my self a solid running car. GM cars are well built.

I own 7 Pontiac Fiero's and have no major problems. No my Chevy van had to have a motor at 100,000 miles, my Honda van had to be rebuilt at 70,000 miles, and my Ford truck burnt. But I do have a Chevy truck with 315,000 miles on it and it's a 2.8.

i totally disagree. ive had my 99 grand am for 6 years now, and have made all the typical repairs and have spent thousands.
known 99+ grand am problems: faulty intake gaskets rot out, expect them to be blown by 70,000 miles, a very costly repair.
alternators, about every 50,000 miles
ignition modules blow alot
some transmission problems, missing in 1st to 2nd gear especially. just to name a few

I don't see very many on the road either.
I think the owners of these cars just leave them in the garage, it is the only way to keep them out of the shop.
