I have to travel all over the states in my job and believe me I know more about America than any American. The life style is completely different. There is much more poverty by far than there is in the UK. Over here you only see the Hollywood side but the reality couldn't be more differ ant. The mixed races make communities almost non existent and life in a lot of the cities is ghetto life. There is no comparison to life in the UK

It is... ..Because they have their way of life, which tourists from the UK like to see
Same as tourists from the US visit the UK to see the same
The differences aren't good or bad, just different - If most travellers go with an open mind to another country, it's to discover rather than compare

Here in the UK I don't speak with a "goofy" accent.

Also, I do not have to worry about all my neighbours and everyone on the street accidentally shooting me - or my family - or the postman. I mean, where is the sanity in having the right to bear arms?

Also, when I want to see a historic sight, I can go and visit a castle nearly 1,000 years old - not a building 150 years old - I mean my parents house is 100 years old, that's a historic building in the US.

Sorry, but if that bloke is going to make fun of the British accent - I mean it's our language, by definition we are not the ones speaking it funny.

i have a mum, my niece has a mom. my boys can pass their driving test AND can go out for a drink when they are 18 (on the same day if they are mad enough) while my niece can drive at 16 but not drink till 21. my niece went to a TAG school (talented and gifted), we struggle along with the state school system. yes i think theyre different, the USA seems to have it sorted........

hang on a second, my partner gets 6 weeks holiday a year, my brother gets 2. I live in a country stuffed with culture, history and beauty, my brothers family live in a new country which is practically a culture free zone. i love england, whatever its peculiarities.

I think our media has a more rounded take on world events than the US. When I was there news was only reported if it had some connection to the US and they only seemed to screen Olympic coverage in events that USA did well in or were expected to. I think we are a much less insular country.

i think that theres obviously some things that are better and some worse here (UK), but coz US is loads massiver than us, then when theyre better theyre a lot better and when theyre worse theyre a lot worse.
par example, US athletes seem to be better than UK, but also there are a lot more fat people on Us than UK. you catch my driftwood?
