You're right, of course, to a degree. Bonds is obviously a bad personality and now perhaps a none to wise liar. However, Bud Selig deserves derision for his part in hiding the problem and then not treating it when it became public. The Players' Union protects their millionaires and to heck with the fans. And, yes, the institute of baseball in general is run by conservative billionaires with no real interest in baseball or America. However, how could we make this an issue? I'd love to see it, but Bonds gives a good target because he never does anything to help himself and the anonymous owners and rules makers hide like rats. What can we do?

He's not the scapegoat. Barry Bonds lied to the grand jury investigating Balco and they indicted him on those charges. Baseball itself isn't out to get Barry Bonds. They didn't care that any of the players were taking steroids because it was putting bodies in the empty seats around the league with people who wanted to watch the home run chases. Steroids were a controlled substance at the time and could only be prescribed by a doctor but Major League Baseball didn't have a steroid policy.

Bonds is the "big fish" in the pond and there is enough pressure being put on MLB now and I believe a large list of additional players will be added to the Bonds list.

Bonds is not a scapegoat unless no one else is punished.
Several players have been suspended for drug use, so they are not picking on him.
His legal problems are related to perjury, just like Marion Jones.
If he had been truthful this would have blown over like the others.
His biggest problem is his attitude toward the press and fans.
How he acts and talks is his business and he can do what ever he wishes.
But acting like an @ss all of the time reduces his number of supporters.

He isn't the Scapegoat. There was never a gun to his head saying he had to take steroids. Bond's is a selfish player who doesn't care about anything or anyone else than himself and now the best record of all time will be tainted.

But Bonds is dirty...and there is nothing that makes what he did right. I just wish all this had happened last year before he was allowed to steal Hank's record.

Yep, that is true.
But Barry Bonds took performance drugs because he wanted all the attention on him, instead of McGwire and Sosa.
Well, he's getting what he asked for, isn't he.
