and you came across a happily dwelling den of Tasmanian tigers..... would you alert the authorities? or would you just let them be???

Ah yes, a vacant dream of mine. Spend some time hiding out in the area south west of the Pieman River, and discover as living family of Thylacines. I'd be famous, like David Noble, who discovered the Wollemi Pine.
To the answerer abovea; the Tasmanian tiger (thylacine) is not like the Tasmanian Devil, which is a small ferocious animal something like the North American wolverine. The Thylacine is (or was) dog sized, and obviously had a lot more to fear from humans than humans had to fear from it (it was hunted to extinction, on the grounds that it killed lambs).

I would be torn..should I leave them to survive on their own in hopes that no one would come and destroy their habitat, and that no one would come to test, measure, prod and probe them...OR would I let people know they were there in order to protect them and start some kind of a breeding program, and to be famous for the rediscovery of an extinct animal.

I will run for my life. Did you mean tasmanian devils the endangered stuff, then I will again run for my life they have got some cancer on their face.

difficult, I live in Tasmania so It would be possible, however not probable, the ten shilling bounty offered for them would not be enough for me to harm them
