Pre-eclampsia caused me to go into labor twice. Once at 33 weeks which was stopped by drugs the second time was at 35 weeks when i had my son.
If i were you i would go to a doctor cause pre-eclampsia is something you don't play around with.
The doctor had me on blood pressure pills before and after i had my son.
The only cure for pre-eclampsia is to give birth.

The same thing happened to me in my first pregnancy. If when your midwife comes to check your bp tomorow it is still high she will probably refer you to hospital for an induction, you are technically full term now so i really wouldn't worry about it. I was induced at 38 weeks and my baby was fine. I still managed a natural birth although i was encouraged to have an epidural as one of the side effects is it lowers blood pressure. You may need to take some medication after the birth if your blood pressure stays high, i was put on this and by my 6 week check it was back to normal.

Depending exactly how high your blood pressure is she should probably have referred you to the high risk doctors clinic at the hospital. Having bad headaches and blurred vision since 30 weeks are signs of pre eclampsia and the protein in your urine is another definite sign. If your blood pressure is still very high and you still have protein in your urine you should ask to be referred to the doctors clinic at the hospital, 39 weeks is too far to come for something to go wrong. Good luck and do what you think is right for you and your baby's health.

If you have hypertension (a blood pressure of 140/90 or over) and you have protein in your urine then you have pre-eclampsia. If you are feeling unwell, I would contact your hospital to see what they have to say. It may well be that you will be admitted into hospital. If you suffer from any pains in the stomach or further blurred vision or headache, I would suggest that you contact your midwife again. Good luck.

As long as they are aware of it don't worry. You will be checked daily now and if there is anything to worry about they will induce labour.
You may be told to have complete bed rest till labour starts but as you are 39 weeks this shouldn't be long anyway!!
I was put on bed rest at 27 weeks (in hospital!) and my son was induced at 34 weeks but he was a fine healthy baby!
Try not to worry as worrying can make pre-eclampsia worse! At 39 weeks the risks are to you not your baby so if it gets worse they will induce the birth which will solve the problem, don't worry about your baby but take more care of yourself and you should be fine!! Plenty of rest and restful thoughts!!
Good luck!
EDIT: Just saw Mary Poppins answer - she is right but you are borderline pre-eclampsia not eclampsic and you are very late in your pregnancy - her answer is for an extreme case which by the sounds of it you are not! I had pre-eclampsia from 16 weeks and the midwife managed it fine til she felt I need to be in hospital at 27 weeks! Don't let her answer stress you as that is the worse thing for you now! If it has stressed you though - go and see your GP so he can put your mind at rest as the last thing you need is to be worrying!!

Hi,
I had pre-e, if your bp is high and protein etc. you will probably be admitted so that they can monitor you and baby. They may decide to do a c-section (although it is still poss to have a natural birth if there is time) if your bp won't come down. There is nothing you can do. Just take it very easy.
After 3 weeks in hosp my baby was born at 34 weeks thru emergency c-section. He is beautiful and wonderful.
Hope everything goes well.

Hi Hun ..when i was carrying my twins at 33weeks i was told the same thing the midwife came one day and said if its still this bad tomorrow you will have to go into hospital for you and the babies to be monitored needless to say at 33 weeks i was scared stiff ... she told me to rest and sleep and not to do anything which i did ..she came out and that day i was taken to hospital and monitored all the time, rested slept and my babies were scanned and hearts checked, they will take you into hospital and make sure you get rest ..but as your nearly ready for birth they may well just monitor you and your baby and let nature take its course or they will induce labour, for me i went to 37weeks a long month in hospital but induction never worked for me, so i had a section whatever the outcome I'm sure you both will be fine x
best of luck

Try not to worry, if you do have pre - eclampsia they will probably set you off. My friend had it, they took her in the next day and set her off, 6 hours later she had a beautiful baby girl who is now a healthy 6 year old!! Once you have the baby your blood pressure will be fine. Good luck

The same happened with my daughter.
The Midwife sent her to see the Gynaecologist , who kept her in overnight to monitor her (and the babies) condition. She was informed that a c-section would be necessary within the next week or two.
The following morning, She was informed that while the babies was quite happy, she wasn't and she was going to have the c-section in a couple of hours!
While He was born 11.5 weeks early, 18months later, He now runs around like the little monster he is>_<, and is on target for development, though still a little on the small side.
So even if it comes to the worst and you have to be admitted, things don't always turn out badly.

If it stays high, at 39 weeks probable induction/c section. Pre eclampsia can be fatal to both you and baby. Don't be scared, the fact she's noticed it so early is fantastic. Seriously, now they're watching you, you are in safe hands. If you start feeling worse contact delivery suite.
Good Luck xxx
